Condensing your hours is an option as you wouldn’t be able to work remotely while your with your baby, especially on the public purse. Are you band 7 or above? If so, you might struggle to condense your hours because most of the time you need to be in work during core business hour but you could see if it’s an option. You might have more wriggle room there, especially because you’re ward based so maybe even one long day a week would be an option. I moved into a different role on return of my mat leave thats 9-5 Monday-Friday so i could condense and they’ve let me do that with no problem. So I had the option of 8-5:15 Monday-Thursday and it gave me one day off. I ended up just going back to 5 days though because I found I was out the house more on condensed hours and the start was too early for the nursery hours 🙈. But depending on whose providing your childcare and how far you need to travel that could be an option xx
I'm a nurse and have a flexible working in place that I only work certain days when I have childcare and it often means condensed days/nights. That was when I just had my 3 year old I am currently in mat leave with my second and wondering what to do when I return keep it the same or adjust it x
I imagine you have long days anyway but can you do some longer days when you have childcare and have a day off or half day once a week or every other week to spend with little one. My friend in NHS has recently changed her 9-5 to a 8-5.30 and cut her lunch break down from an hour to half an hour gets every Thursday off with no change in pay. I think you could do a flexible working request?
