Hi hi! I am currently 41+6. Only going in for my induction today! I tried to wait it out as long as possible. Did several sweeps. Unfortunately weren’t successful and cervix ain’t quite ready either. So have just had to accept that induction is needed! Stay strong - things may change for you even if it hasn’t for me 💓
I’m 41 weeks today. They booked my induction appointment for 42 weeks but I will probably end up declining on the day if I get there and all is still well :) Also had no signs but I know so many people don’t have signs and it all comes on very quickly so I’m not worrying! Just enjoying these last few days of freedom xx
I’m 40+4 today have declined both sweeps and inductions so far, planning on being monitored from 41 weeks and hoping this baby is ready and comes on time xx
I’m 8 days over due refused inductions I’ve been booked in with a consultant to have monitoring after 42 weeks but apart from that remember this is “bonus time” your baby will come they’re just extra comfy! X
I’m 41+2 today and I was convinced by the midwife in my 41 week appointment on Thursday that an induction would put us on the safer side of having the baby, so I’m actually booked in for today !! I was super hesitant and reading online I felt this is just not the route I wanted to take so I spent the last two days WALKING everywhere doing around 6k steps a day ! Eating unlimited amounts of dates and drinking raspberry leaf tea and also had a spicy pot noodle last night . I’ve now been in early labour since 5am this morning!!!
I’m 41+3 today. Declined sweeps & induction but have agreed to go in for monitoring at 42 weeks. Struggling with all the ‘is baby here yet?’ texts so doing daily Hypnobirthing meditation, long walks, eating my favourite foods and sunbathing now that the weather has perked up! It’s so difficult to keep a positive mindset, but just think each day I am one step closer to meeting my baby 🥰
I’m struggling too!! I’m only 40+5 but I feel like as soon as you hit 40 weeks, they start throwing around words like ‘stillbirth’ and you feel so much pressure to get induced. I’m really trying to hold out for as long as possible but they want me in for daily monitoring from 41 weeks :( I’ll resist induction until 42 weeks as long as everything is okay with the baby because I really want to go into birth naturally. But you have my sympathies! It’s very mentally draining going over your due date. I’m hoping it all just kicks off very quickly for me because I have had basically no signs… xxxx
Hey, needing a post like this atm! This stage of limbo is so so difficult. People tell you to enjoy the time before baby arrives but it’s so hard when you’re brain is on over drive and you don’t feel like your pre pregnant self! Hoping that we all get to meet our babies soon! x
Also declined induction on my due date. Was more due to increased fluid, but after getting a higher up opinion from a consultant. She was happy to wait, so I now have another few days before Wednesday... Currently 40+4. Just the anticipation of waiting and not knowing. My last was early, so was convinced it would be the same. Also becoming so tired not sleeping and still running around after a toddler x
I declined sweep too, waiting until 41+6 then they will monitor at the hospital and induction if necessary
This is a great post. Helpful to see what others are up to. I'm due tomorrow but no signs so far. Fully expecting to go over. But he will come when it's time for him to. Registrar wanted to induce last week as a scan indicated slowed growth (still on the trajectory line, I think the last measurement was incorrect as it suggested accelerated growth at the time). I declined all offers of induction. They don't actually talk to you about what's involved or risks when they offer this which really frustrated me. I said I would consider a sweep in the future but I think I said this more to placate the doctor. So I've had no sweeps so far.
I had my baby at 12 days over! I also refused induction but did eventually have a sweep, Purely because we went in for reduced movements to realise I was in labour, and hoped it would help move things along.
I’m 40+4 and honestly I’ve had enough! I’ve had two sweeps, was in triage yesterday and showing really strong contractions on the ctg machine (even though I couldn’t feel anything), I can’t sleep at night, I have really strong random contractions throughout the day, I’m honestly fed up 😂 I’ve tapped out and booked an induction for tomorrow, I’m officially serving my daughter with an eviction notice
41+2 (but 40+4 in my own calculation). I refused induction on Tuesday (41+5) yesterday and a consultant midwife will now ring me next week to discuss. Has taken the pressure off Did consent for a sweep yesterday, and mucus plug came this morning (☺️)

Such an encouraging post! I too have declined induction at 40weeks and the more I think about it, I’m very confident to ride this out naturally. I agree with the other ladies, once past 40 weeks there is a strong sense of fear mongering on “still birth”. So sending you lots of positive energy when baby wants to come they will! Our bodies carried our sweet baby through this incredible journey, so why second guess our bodies capability to deliver our babies healthy ? X
Thanks for all the responses. Great to hear what others are doing and to see people are standing firm in their informed choices. My plan was to always give myself till 42 weeks to allow baby time to arrive when baby decides. Definitely won't be having an Induction. Plan on a elective c-section or expectant management with monitoring. We got this mamas! Not long till we meet our little ones 🙏🏿🙏🏿❤️
I’m planning on declining any induction until at least 42 weeks, as long as I feel baby is happy! At 42 weeks I may consider a sweep, but I’ll be more likely to opt for expectant management and extra monitoring to ensure blood flow etc is all fine. I’m not quite at my due date yet but we got this! Babies will come when they’re ready 💙
