I initially used pet names but then I realised it was just better to be honest. My toddler is now 3 and we just use vagina and penis to describe gender anatomy.
Real name from the beginning in our own language for male part . They r twin boys . And have known it from start but they don’t know the name for female part . And I will not teach it I will let them learn it when they r old enough at school
Real names from beginning, prevents confusion/ embarrassment later on and allows for easy communication. I remember my child minder saying she was changing my 2 year old son’s nappy and said the word winkie and he went ‘that’s not my winkie, that’s my penis’ 😄
Definitely scientific names. Keeps them safe too. Heard of too many horrible stories, where children have had pet names and then abuse has been missed and, or not taken seriously because a child has referred to the privates as another name, their cookie for example. We use vagina and penis
Thank you all for your answers! I totally agree about just using correct terms :) body part lessons coming up 🤣
We use the real words for things always have. I think a lot of parents now do this too
We use vulva, vagina, penis, and testes in this house! We've never given body parts "pet names" but somehow they've both learned boobies instead of breasts!
