Online NFP Classes?

Hi everyone! I am eight weeks postpartum and I am looking for an online course in postpartum natural family planning. I did the sympto-thermal method before getting pregnant to avoid pregnancy for four years and it worked great but I don’t think I can use the spymto-thermal method right now since I’m breastfeeding and haven’t gotten my period back yet. I’m interested in the Creighton model because I’ve heard that that’s good for postpartum, and I’ve heard that the Marquette model can be expensive. What is your experience and do you know of any online courses I can take? I can’t attend in person classes right now.

Hi! I tried Creighton for a couple years and tbh hated it :/ The constant mucus checking was stressful, especially with breastfeeding as you have no period to see regular patterns. The consults were VERY expensive—currently I’m actually saving money doing Marquette! But it might depend on where you live 🤷🏻‍♀️Anyway, I much prefer the objectivity of Marquette method. Sending love and prayers, Im with you (5 months pp with my third)💖💖💖

@Jen thank you for the response! ❤️ congrats on your third little one! He is my first and I’m loving motherhood so much. But navigating NFP postpartum has been a challenge because I just have never done it before. We avoided pregnancy for the first four years of our marriage using the sympto-thermal method successfully and I never had any issues with it, but now I can’t use that. Do you know about how much you spend on the Marquette method per month?

Hi I just started the Marquette method and have currently been breastfeeding for 3 months. Breakdown of costs so far: $90 online consult $120 clear blue test kit $55 test strips (30 count) If you wanted you could probably omit the consult and look stuff up on your own. It’s heavy on costs in the beginning, but the ongoing costs of test strips aren’t too bad. Before your cycle returns, you’ll be using about ~27 strips a month. You test for 10 days, break for one, then test for 10 again continuously. When your cycle returns, you’ll test for only 10 days a month. The strips come in packs 30, so it’s about $55/month without a cycle and then about $18/month when your cycle returns. The test kit does include 30 strips to get you started, so that helps. There are other fertility test kits out on the market that could change costs a bit, but the clear blue one is the most ubiquitous for using the Marquette method.

Also if you decide to go this route I recommend that you get something like this to help catch your pee because having to catch pee every morning every day for days on end gets tiring real fast along with any extra required cleanup https://a.co/d/bmgJ2J8
