Hi i have a nearly 3yo who is showing signs of autism and waiting on an assessment. Apply for disability allowance and ehcp - you should be eligible. Im in the process of applying myself. Make sure to note every little thing
@Khadijah I have an EHCP ready to send off but I've been advised to wait until he starts school because if there are issues with behaviour/sensory impulse at school there will be more evidence. Apparently I don't have enough evidence at the moment but I don't get how! He has had to leave 2 nurseries because they haven't been able to attend to his needs and is still waiting for a peadiatrition referral! Thanks hun x
@Naomi thank you :) I think I'm going to have to look at going private x
Hi I’m in the West Midlands and we used ‘The Autism Service’ (cost just over £2000 🙄)they are situated in many places and we used the Quinton one. I recommend going ahead if you can afford it. My son has just finished reception and it’s been a bumpy ride with the challenging behaviours. Having the diagnosis has explained things and it’s been accepted by the GP and school. It’s also been sent off with my son’s EHCP application. You can apply for an EHCP yourself if you feel it’s needed. Schools tend to do ‘Do, access, review’ and do learning plans which does build up evidence. After diagnosis there’s not loads of extra support but I’ve found it helpful and don’t regret going private and seeing his struggles there on paper. Hope this has helped :)
I know someone who used the purple house clinic in Nottingham (they also have an office in Birmingham). I'm unsure of the cost but it's generally between £750 and £2500.
