Should I visit my mil....

So my mil lives a 2 hour drive from us, but she lives close to my friend! Every time I visit my friend, I've been stopping by to see my mil (roughly twice a month) This obviously puts journey time and extra time on my day as I usually stay an hour. I also see my mil other times, I just feel like every time I visit my friends, my partner expects me to go see his mum first! We aren't that close really amd I just feel like it's always me making the effort! I would love sometimes to just see my friend instead of having to leave an hour early to see my mil as well!!! Am I wrong thinking like this?

U only have to see her once per month… don’t make it a habit don’t let them get used to u going to see them all the time… ur partner can go more often but ur not obligated to

My partner is always working when I go! He works long hours. I go so my mil can see her grandchild mostly but I just feel it's becoming annoying for me mostly because my partner just assumes illsee his mum. As soon as I say I'm going to see my friend he says " ok I'll let my mum know your going" I want to say I don't want to go every time but I feel he will get annoyed at me!

@Catherine he's annoyed very easily! He suffers with mental health issues and somthing very normal/innocent can set him off!
