oh bless you it looks so sore🥺 i would use boiled water to cleanse the area with some cotton wool (let the water cool down a bit so it’s not hot), pat dry and allow it to air like youre doing

My wound was open and leaking fluid, I was on 3 different antibiotics for ten days and it took about 2 weeks to completely close on it's own. I used antiseptic wipes to clean off any gunk and kept it covered with a maternity pad, use big granny pants and stick the pad to them to keep it secure 🤌

@Lauren i’m starting my second round of antibiotics : / hopefully my last 🙏🏼 I’m also breast-feeding so I hope it doesn’t affect my baby too much… thank you ill look into the wipes !

I spiked a fever 2 days pp (luckily i was still in hospital) and they couldn't figure out why, only that my infection levels were rising in my blood so I was on 3 different IV antibiotics for 2 days before getting moved to oral, which was only meant to be for another 5 days, but when I took the dressing off my scar it was open and leaking smelly fluid everywhere so I had to go back and they prescribed me a different antibiotic aswell as giving me more of what I already had. Definitely a horrific experience 🫠 I wasn't breast feeding, luckily because I left that hospital like a walking pharmacy, but I'd expect them to give you antibiotics that will be safe for your baby :) I didn't use the wipes too much, just to clean up before going to bed. Just make sure you keep it clean and air it off every so often and it should heal nicely 👌

@Lauren I’m so sorry that sounds awful! Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m hopeful for a nice recovery ❤️‍🩹 I’m also on daily injections for blood clot prevention… I was nervous because doc told me if the infection doesn’t heal after 6 weeks they may have to reopen the scar and redo it worst case scenario 😓 I’m praying that doesn’t happen to me… anyway thank you for your advice 🙏🏼❤️‍🩹

Not sure if it was mentioned, but I used a hair dryer to make sure the area was completely dry then used a pad with sticky bit on BIG knickers with pad facing incision to keep it dry from sweat etc. Ask the docs to swab it to check if the infection is fungal or bacterial, I didn't realise antibiotics won't work if it's bacterial you need a cream. Hope you heal quickly x

Thank you yes, they swabbed it and gave me antibiotics, however Iv been told by them not to put any covers and leave it open to breathe.. at first I did cover it on top but it’s seemed to get worse… it seems confusing because many say keep it open and dry and others say keep it covered and dry or apply cream…

If you can get hold of a product called Medihoney Antibacterial Wound Gel, it will help alot. I'm 7weeks pp now and still use it to this day, it's helped me through my infection, wound openings and itching. Cannot recommend the stuff more.

@Mandi thank you I will check it out !
