Why can't we agree?! So very pregnant, no names!

Me and my husband are having a really hard time agreeing on names and it is getting really annoying! Several times over this pregnancy we've landed on one, I've fallen for it, only for him to turn around and say he doesn't like it. Last night he announced that he didn't like the middle name that I've had my heart set on for months and I was fuming! There have been plenty we've tried out but haven't like mutually but I am due in 2 weeks and all the names on the list neither of us particularly love. Some of our recent ones include Margot, Ailsa, Anwen, if it's a girl. Alasdair or Finley if it's a boy. I'm not in love with any. My heart was set on Magnus for a boy but he's vetoed it 😭 the middle name he's just rejected was Rosalind (after Rosalind Franklin because I want an inspirational woman as a middle name as we did with our first). How do we find one we love not just one we dislike the least?! Baby could be here in a week and I'm stumped.

Pick it out of a hat lol that's how we did ours

Don’t rush it. Wait for baby to arrive x

@Mayte brave! Did you love to start with or did the name grow on you?

@Chloe thanks, I really hope so! Feels like so much pressure to get it right and it feels like we've looked at every name in existence 🤣

Well we picked one I liked one my husband liked and one we thought was okay but didn't love... long story short we picked it out of a hat and the one I liked was going to be the one for sure.. but when she was born we ended up going for the one he liked.. it honestly just felt like her and it totally just fit till this day she fits her name perfectly and I love it way more than I ever imagined. I feel like once you see your baby you'll just know

You're allowed to change your mind last minute lol goodluck ❤️

Me and my partner wrote down the names we liked separate then when my little boy was born we then chose his name as to what suited him once he was here but it still took us 3 weeks to decide which one suited him. We ended up calling him Luca as it suited him then his middle name is my partners dad's name. Hope you both come to some agreement it's a stressful time picking names x

We finally decided a name several days after our little one was born. We had this exact problem. With our first, we both instantly agreed on a name we both loved and it was so easy. This time, we just couldn’t agree on anything. We stopped talking about it. When she was born, my partner asked me what my top 3 choices were and eliminated 1, then told me to choose between the remaining 2. And he chose a middle name. And that’s how we did it in the end. I’d have preferred to have found “the one”, like we did our first, but it didn’t happen and we had to call her something 😂

So annoying ain’t it. He choose our daughters name so only fair I get to choose my boys name 🤣

Is there any family you may want to honour? We had names pretty much picked for 7 years before even ttc (and it took 7 years before that to convince my partner of the girl first name) but they're all family / friend. Now, if we have a second girl though we're scuppered 😂

@Ellie try kinder. It’s like tinder for baby names ! ❤️

My baby is 10 days without a name because we can't decide! Wait til she's here :) ❤️

@Sharnee is that an app? that sounds useful!

@Louise yep x

Can you not go for Rosa or Frankie instead for the middle name? Like a nod to her without using the whole name. Long middle names sometimes don’t roll off the tongue well so maybe that’s why he isn’t keen I love Magnus btw

@🔮Angela🔮 I was gonna suggest a nod without using the proper name. My daughter's first name is Maggie after my Nan - but she was called neither (it's kinda an amalgamation of Marjorie, her birth name, and Peggy, what she was always known as) and I thought of maybe Francesca Harriet (Frankie Harry) as a girl name nod to my grandfather 'Frank Harry'. Could you each pick a middle name then you only have to agree to the first name?

I agree to pick from a Hat until they come. Then once you and your husband looks at them you'll know exactly what they should be.

I just would make long lists & narrow it & pick out of a hat. These are similar choices to ones you like: Maximus Phinneus Felix Rhodes Gale Archer Ash Albert/ Albie Alistair Austin Adair Aofe Afton Arlie Avery Aubrey Artemis Alessia Alessandra Marchella Marsala

Just wait until the birth, tell him what name you want and he’ll probably agree after seeing what you went through 😂

I like Rosalind, Rose for short . What about Lynda and on paper it could be Rosalinda What about Franklin for a boy ? I had a list of names my boyfriend told me he liked Enzo and I already had Lorenzo on my list so his name on paper is Lorenzo but he will be called Enzo. Maybe you can find a compromise like that but need to find something close to both :)

Tell him he has until the last week to agree together or you will pick one for your baby.
