Spitting dummy at night

Any tips on how to keep baby from waking at night when they spit their dummy out? She always wakes crying every couple of hours when she realises her dummy is out, she’s now in a separate room and so I go in and pop it back in and all is fine again. Wondered how you teach them to put it back in for themselves or at what point do they stop waking up because it’s out their mouth? Thanks Mamas xx

I’m not sure how old little one is but this is what I started doing for mine when they were quite young. Let them fall asleep with the dummy in their mouth, but try to take it out once they have fully fallen asleep. I used to keep rocking them ever so slowly and then I’d take out the dummy and continue the rocking, yes they might stir a little but because you’re rocking them it might help them stay asleep. Ofc if baby is a little older and not used to being rocked to sleep this will not work, but just an idea, hope this helps!

@Merve thanks for this. She’s 8 months. Unfortunately she will wake up once she knows her dummy is out. She’s not a great self soother so is quite dependent on it. We used to rock her so I have tried to replace that with a dummy 🤷🏻‍♀️
