Foods/Eating advice.

I will take any and all advice! My little boy is 2 and a half. There is no variety in what he eats and not for lack of trying. He won't eat meat apart from mince which is fine but I can't get him to eat vegetables. The odd couple of carrots or sweetcorn or mashed potatoes is as far as it goes. He just won't even try what we put down. We try the giving the same regularly and it does not seem to be working and to be honest I'm just at a loss now and starting to worry he's not getting enough nutrition from his food. This has been going on for about a year now.

The only meat my 2 year old will eat is mince as well. He doesn't eat fruit either. Think it's just a phase they go through. Don't worry, it won't last forever 🤗

Have you tried introducing new foods when he is most hungry?? Mine is same age and has no problems food related. It takes time but it can be done. I started immediately when I started on puree at 9 months when she finally agreed to eat solids. I would introduce new foods at dinner time when most hungry then she'd just gobble it then realise in the middle hmm lol 🤣 then either will love it and finish it or not love it and stop eating then I'd just introduce it again in a few weeks time same way. Now she eats everything. Idk at this age if this trick would work tho. But try cutting and hiding your veggies in his favourite foods. Also an African way of cooking we use is if you don't want cuts of veggies in a didhbyou just blend or crushed everything. Especially in mince he won't know but he'll be still eating lots of veggies. Then get him into kitchen to help you cook and he'll hopefully get curious and learn then you can slowly start sneaking the texture back to foods.

Mine only ate off of my plate for a long time. After a while, we started bringing her an empty plate- whatever she liked from mine, I put on her's and told her it was mine but cooling down for her(if I told her it was hers, she wouldn't eat it lol). Just encourage them to try without putting to much pressure on them. Serve a safety food with everything. Try different recipes. Different amounts of spice(not bland/bland). Different ways of serving a food(think raw cauliflower, riced, pureed as a mashed potato alternative, roasted with other veggies, battered and lightly fried, hidden in some food like Pakora). Served with yogurt, honey, ketchup, bbq, ranch, etc(mine sometimes likes dipping in water 🤷). Get them involved in helping make food-for a while that was the only time mine would eat(mostly raw ingredients within reason). Set some of your deconstructed meal aside as you make it in case they want it separately(creamy noodles with mushrooms, green beans, corn, and chicken mixed for adults-separate for kid)

Be adventurous in your food to show them it's good to try new things. Have them help pick out fruits/veggies at store even if it's something you have never had. Get protein to them in other ways like beans/nuts if they don't eat much meat.
