Toilet / potty training! Advice please

Would love to hear from any other mamas struggling with potty training. Our daughter is 3 yrs old next week and we’ve been potty training for the last 6 weeks. We tried the Oh Crap method and was commando the first few days then in pants. She’s at nursery 3 days a week and they’ve been really helpful. Some days she’ll be fine and have no or few accidents. About half the time though, the accident is using the toilet and she’ll wet/poop herself multiple times in the day!! Really not sure what to do as we’ve tried taking her to the toilet every 15 mins, sticker and reward charts, treats, potty and toilet (she prefers toilet) and can’t seem to crack it. She does seem to get it but then others days will completely regress. Today she’s pooped in her pants at home and didn’t even say anything. She’s also now done two separate wees in her pants at my dad’s and again said nothing until I noticed. Says she doesn’t want a “baby nappy” when I ask her if she wants one but just keeps having accidents! It’s 6 weeks tomorrow since we started and I think we’ll need to reset and start again another time. To add to the stress for her, we have a 6 month old baby and we’re moving house in a few weeks when she’ll start at a new nursery! I realise we should prob have started earlier but with the baby and a bereavement a few months ago I couldn’t face it. Has anyone had a similar experience? Would you suggest resetting and trying again once we’re settled post move? Or persevering? Thank you!

I’d say persevere as it does sound like you’re halfway there. It takes time to sink in for them, and they also get distracted.

We've been potty training since May and my little girl still has accidents sometimes and won't tell us. I've come to realise it's a much slower process than I originally thought. I'd stick with it x

Yeah I think to stop and start again would confuse her. Just keep at it and it will click at some point. It took my daughter a lot longer than I originally thought to toilet train too x

We did the oh crap method too, best advice from that book was to back off and not make it a big deal. I did it with my son and it was great! Just dropped a line like 'the pottys over there if you need it' then walk to another room and most of the time they will have used the potty no problem! Well that was my experience at least xxx

I started of buy asking every 30mins and I found my daughter got really annoyed and refused to sit on the potty. Now I've found I can ask her to sit on the potty every 2hrs and I usually read her potty time book and she'll go on potty and do the business. Asking too much has the opposite effects. Also a tip from my childminding mum a couple of toys or books only allowed on the potty or toilet helped to encourage to go to sit on potty
