Think about when you would weigh yourself or anything you cook with - scales need to be on a flat surface to get an accurate reading. It's the same for babies although with baby scales they usually have to calibrate them to ensure it's going to be the most accurate and also usually put them on a flat surface. The scales should be on a hard flat surface ideally. Hospital beds are firm but they're still a bit wobbly. U leas they're throwing up a really, really large amount sickups usually look worse then they are.
