Swimming

When did you find your LO got the most out of swimming classes and enjoyed them? Would love to take my LO as he is almost 4 months but want to know whether he would benefit from classes at this age or later? ❤️

Unless you have the money and want the structure I wouldn’t take them to lessons this young. They’ll just do little exercises to get them used to the water. I would just take them to the pool yourself and build positive associations with the water

I agree it's not necessary but I started taking my little boy at 3 months and he does really enjoy it and it helped him get used to water in the face and splashing/kicking

You don't have to do the classes. I kno where I am edmonton alberta they have a schedule of what's going on and I just look at when the kid pool is open at then I take my son and go, you can go as long as you want with the classes it's 45 min so if you want to go longer I suggest not doing classes. Plus it's cheaper that way.

The younger the better for them to get used to the water on the faces before they lose the natural instinct to hold their breath. We've been taking my 2yr old since she was 3 or 4 months, unfortunately where we did take her to didn't do regular submersions so she hates the water on her face. We are now taking her to lessons that do it weekly and she's starting to get used to it now, wish we'd been going here from the start

Thankyou all so much! I think we will begin just taking him to the local pool and get him used to that, and enrol him on lessons from there as we want him to have confidence in the water 😊
