Morning bottle?

Hi guys my daughter is 18 months and she's slowly not wanting her morning bottle, she's still drinking her evening one completely fine, was just wondering what time did everyones little ones stop having a morning bottle Update as I think I've confused everyone; the morning bottle is normal cows milk which she's been on since she turned one, sorry for the confusion đŸ€Ł

Just take them for their breakfast straight away x

My daughter hasn't had a morning bottle since she was 1 she is now 19 months. She has her breakfast at about 8 and then has a bottle at half 10 and she loves this bottle, she gets really excited when I bring it through. She then has a bottle at night before bed. X

Mine stop wanting it in the morning since around the same time. She wants real food now. She does use the evening one to soothe herself to sleep.

My 18 month old stopped morning bottle just after turning 1, if on whole milk they should only have 3 portions of dairy (cheese, yoghurt, milk) per day anyway so shouldn’t need the morning bottle. My son does tend to almost want 2 breakfasts though x

normally bottles are supposed to stop at 12 months, there’s many reasons behind it, we had to ween my son off it took a couple weeks, we switched to a straw cup, they’re a lot better for teeth development and help to prevent cavities. breastmilk can continue after 12 months, formula isn’t recommended past 12 months, whole milk (depending on allergies) is to be started after 12 months. they can drink it whenever, morning, afternoon, night. before they brush their teeth. hope some of this helps!

I stopped morning bottles with my son around the same time. I just offer him water in his cup ones he wakes up while I make breakfast

@Kylie Yes, after 12 months, it’s no longer their main source of nutrition, food is. It’s just a comfort at this point for my 16 month old. Most days she doesn’t drink milk, but she does get super excited when I give her some. Since she was 12.5-13 months, she needs water to hydrate and food for fuel. The whole milk was really like a transitioning thing when she started really eating solids. â˜ș

Yeah you really don’t need it, typically it’s just a soother for them once they’re eating solids. My doctor told me to try and bring my daughter down to 4 ounces a day.

My daughter dropped formula at 12 months and refused to drink any other milk so has been on vitamins mixed in her yoghurts since then and other dairy options throughout the day such as cheese. The only time she’ll drink milk is out of her cereal bowl 😂x

@Chloe that’s so cute 😄

I didn’t follow much of that after my first. With my first I was offering despite weaning and with my second I gaged what she ate to when to offer milk. All are different x

My son hasn’t had any bottles other than occasionally one at bedtime since he was 1 x

Around 1 year I started cutting out my son’s morning bottle and replacing it with milk or chocolate milk (now part of his morning routine) and then after about 30-45 mins depending on his mood I just give him his breakfast. He still takes bottles to go down for his 1 nap during the day and then before bedtime as part of his bedtime routine.

I plan to continue the two bottles till he’s 2 as long as he wants to keep taking them because I like to know he got *this much* of the nutrients he needs (based on nutrition facts of whatever formula you use or the nutrients in breastmilk) and that way if he doesn’t eat other food well that day I’m not gonna worry about if he is hydrated enough or low in iron or whatnot.

I just take my son straight down for breakfast after brushing his teeth in the morning. He’s slowly going off his day milk due to snacks but will have the bedtime bottle x

Try giving the milk to her in a sippy cup in the morning to make sure it's not the bottle that's the problem.
