Cold sore outbreak on the lips during pregnancy?

I am 28 weeks pregnant and so far I have had this nasty, dreadful cold sores on my lips 5 times since the beginning of my pregnancy. And I would usually get 1 cold sore every 2 years! So I read the following: “Many people carry the virus but do not regularly suffer from cold sores. However, during pregnancy it is quite common for women who have been unaffected for many years to start experiencing outbreaks of cold sores again.” Do you ladies have a similar experience?

Not sure where you are located but in Australia you can get famvir tablets over the counter and they stop them in their tracks.

I had this in the beginning of my pregnancy also! I talked with my doc and she can me some meds to help keep them at bay. Haven’t had them come back since I took the medication.

Yeah, I’ve always suffered with cold sores over the years since I was a kid but could easily go a year or more without having one, but since being pregnant they’ve been a nightmare again, had them quite a few times whilst pregnant and then afterwards having two kids under two and getting soooo run down they flared up again 😩😩 You just have to try so hard (easier said than done) to relax and be calm before giving birth to try and avoid another flare up, keep your lips moist alllll the time and try and avoid cutting / letting them crack etc as that’s when I noticed mine would just appear out of no where x

Just have your OB give you something
