Meet the baby first. Then try new names and come back to the ones you tried before he was born. See how long you have before you have to have a name in your state. One of my kids didn’t have a name for over a month. And truthfully if you don’t love the name after you register something you can change it. The hospital definitely can put the pressure on you to give them a name so they can register but don’t be pressured.
You and your partner should both write down your top 5 names and then you can either post them here or pop them into ChatGPT or similar and see what suggestions you get that you might both like!
Have you tried the kinder app, both of you swipe through names and it tells you if you match on any, we found it really useful and our little boys name is one of the ones we matched on
@Erica take some notes 🤣
My husband and I each wrote a list of 10 names we liked, and then each week we eliminated one or two from the list. We were left with 3 names by the end (which were, incidentally, all my choices - my husband kept eliminating his own 😂 🤷🏼♀️) We found it really difficult to agree. So baby arrived without a name, and after a few days my husband basically said he would eliminate one of the three remainders and then I had to choose between those 2. I flipped a coin (I am too indecisive).
Me and my partner had very different styles. What I did is make a list with all the names each of us like, then directly compare: 1 vs 2, 1 vs 3, 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3, 2 vs 4, etc. like setting up a tournament. It works better because you can't just be like "no" to all of them, you actually have to choose one you like
