No ECCE

Hi, the current creche/preschool that my son is going is reducing hours, and I am not sure how much longer they have in business. The owner is also at retirement age now. I called other creches and preschool to put my son on their waiting list. And despite my son being 1 year and a half old, they said that more than likely, he won't get to go to ecce because of the length of the waiting list. So it might be straight to primary school. Does anyone's kid skipped preschool? How was the experience? I am trying to prepare for all scenarios at this stage.
