WJC birthing unit

Hi! After some personal experiences and opinions on giving birth at WJC in Braintree. I’m 36 weeks today and my midwife suggested it to me as I have higher anxiety and it may be better as it’ll be more quiet and better for my sensory issues

I stayed at WJC after labour at Broomfield hospital and I wish I would’ve had my birth at WJC. The midwives at WJC are fantastic, I felt at ease and so looked after x

I’m having my baby at WJC, my midwife has been very reassuring with everything. She explained that if anything was to go wrong we count as a CAT 1 call which means an ambulance would be diverted straight away etc. seek lots of reassurance from your midwife, mine was brilliant at reassuring me xx

I had my first baby at WJC - it was a lot nicer than being in hospital, a lot more calmer and quieter however I had to be transferred to broomfield after birth due to a complication that they couldn’t help with that’s the only downside but 100% glad I gave birth there instead of hospital x

I had my baby at WJC in December and would highly recommend it. I had the midwifes 100% attention. They only have 2 birthing rooms, so they were not stretched across multiple births. It was such a calming environment. Each room has a birthing pool and all equipment, low lighting, music, you may wish to use. You can then stay in their family rooms after, if you want further support, so you're not rushed home if you don't feel ready xx
