I was lucky enough at first to have my mom watch my daughter when she was a baby and go to work. When I moved back to NYC, her dad watched her when I went on interviews and such, I was also looking for a daycare actively. Lucky that boss was understanding, Since the first week was a transitional week. But I secured child care I think a week before my job. I have another job now, but it was understood, that I can’t work outside my childcare hours. It’s hard for sure. But it’s not impossible. There are Monday-Friday jobs that fall within those hours. My daycare hours are 7-6pm. She goes 7:20am-5/5:30pm. I just got a voucher too so now I won’t have to pay for it. So that’s another good thing. It might ho to try to get that too. Depending on your area might take about 1-2 months
I joined the military as a single mom when my child was 2 and half. You can use indeed.com. apply at daycare centers as an aide and maybe they will give you a discount rate? Use care.com for a nanny job. Definitely google your newr by centers and put your child on a waiting list. Sometimes the list are long and take a while so by time you find that job things will line up for you. Stay hopeful. You got this.
Where are you located? I’m in the DMV and my job is hiring remote. It’s in a call center but I stay home with my 2 year old and it’s good pay and health care benefits
I don’t have any family here and have hired babysitters off of care.com
I got so so lucky. About to have a work from home job soon.
I only work 3 days a week as a single mum as I have such limited childcare and that’s two backshifts a week and one dayshift on a Saturday but due to lack of childcare may have to cut down hours soon so I’m in the same boat
