GERD

So, I had GERD before getting pregnant. I was on medication. They lowered it to as needed. Well last night, I had the worst flare up of my life. Throwing up acid and nose bleeds. So I went to my primary today. I’m back on the meds every day with the addition of another one. They say it’s safe during pregnancy. I don’t like the idea of taking meds every but without them I feel like I’m dying.

I have had Gerd for years. I took pantaprazole and famotadine the entire pregnancy. I still had to sleep on a wedge at night to help

I’m on meds for mine too and have been throughout pregnancy. Without it I get so ill and studies show it’s perfectly safe to take. All healthcare professionals I’ve spoken to have also advised it’s safe. Don’t suffer unnecessarily!

@TiffanyThat’s what I’m on now. And your baby is ok?

@Megan she is a 7 mo sassy chunky monkey. She came out healthy and ready to go

@Alexandrapantaprazole and famotadine

I’m on omeprazole, which is what’s recommended over here in the UK and known as pregnancy safe. It’s very common/standard. Unfortunately I don’t have experience with the drugs you’re on specifically

I took nexium throughout my blast pregnancy and this one. They just added pepcid because my reflux is so bad this go around. It's okay to take those two together because they affect the stomach acid in different ways. You can also have up to 5 Tums a day and sleeping elevated helps a lot.

I was told not to take pantoprazole during pregnancy so I took Pepcid and tums. I just dealt with it. Nothing took it away but my diet and habits made it better

I have it pregnant or not. Pregnancy made it unbearable in month 8. Pantoprazole, baby! ETA: At least, I think that's what it was. 🤔 If it's considered somewhat risky during pregnancy, they might've let me just start taking it the last few weeks because it was so bad, and baby gets more resistant to medication effects as time goes on.

Sounds bad but take 1-2 shots of organic apple cider vinegar in a shot glass with water a day. It neutralizes the acid and does wonders for digestion and helps limit gerd flair ups. Also adding in regular bananas, tumeric, raw honey and ginger all add to prevention.
