Funded hours cover term time only. As the nurseries are open all year round they have to charge as the funding doesn’t cover the school holidays. You’d need to find a nursery that is only open in term time, but then you’d have to take all the school holidays off work as the nursery would be closed.
@Samantha that's not true for all nurseries, I know Canterburies lets you split the hours out annually so you get less per week but your child can then go to nursery during the holiday period using the funding I'm not sure which other nurseries have this in place, I know it's not all
@Panisha thank you for your message ! When I called up Heaton House nursery a few weeks ago I've been told the same that I can't use only the funded hours I will be calling up again 🤔 Thanks for all your information ! xx
@Samantha thank you !
If both parents are working you get 15 hours funded which my 2 yr old gets when he turns 3 we'll get the 30 hours. Edit: Food is NOT free for him i have to pay for lunches Last year the nursery allowed term time only but thats no longer allowed. They've also changed his time which has completely ruined my sons routine. Currently The 15 hours are spilt over 3 days over the week. If i want to send him for the other 2 days I have to pay. Its best to ring around and see what each nursery offers. But you have to be quick as places get filled up quickly.
Weird about HH but also maybe ask the minimum requirement completely. Otherwise 100% Canterburys 2 Kingswear Drive, Bolton, BL1 6EX Let you do just funded hours. Unless they're fully booked now and have changed their stance, but my friend takes her LO there and she doesn't pay at all and has her hours split over the entire year rather than term time only
I have my little one in nursery funded hours only, so I pay each week for the meals and he is off during the holidays even though the nursery is open all year round, I did choose to keep him in during the 6 weeks and I had to pay for them weeks other than that I do funded hours only x
My sons funded hours are split across the year so works out 11hrs per week, but they do allow term time only (then you’d be off in school holidays). But get charged for consumables which at mine seems pretty high in comparison of others at £25pd funded day. However their day rate for extra days is lower than most others, at the time a standard day cost £50. I know they went up slightly in Sep, not sure the exact breakdown now. Bright Futures, Green Lane, Bolton.
I know you can do funded hours only at Heaton House and Canterbury nursery (only one site had space when my friend joined) Not sure if either have space though Not all nurseries allow that and unfortunately I only know of these two who do, m maybe others will know more or would be worth a ring around/email around the ones in Bolton x
