When did you start purees/cereal?

My baby was born at the end of March so he only just turned 6 months. He's maybe 13 pounds and our pediatrician has us concentrating his formula to help him gain weight over the last 2 months. He's screaming at daycare when other babies get baby food and can sit up but they still haven't given us the green light for purees or cereal. We have an appointment Monday and I'm hoping they'll say he can start then but am freaking out about what to do if they don't say he can start though I'm not sure why they'd say no. He's getting 30+ oz a day and can sometimes tolerate a 6oz bottle but usually gets 5-5.5oz. When did you all start cereals/purees?

E started at 5 months when he was able to turn head and sit up

Girl give that baby some cereal. There’s no “standard” of how old they HAVE to be

It’s sounds like it’s time for food. I make all of my sons stuff just boil and blend.

We started at 5 months with purées. I’ve given him various vegetables but his primary food source is formula. I don’t give him cereal. I think the timeline has more to do with the baby being able to sit up (assisted) and control his/her head for choking hazard than for nutrition. We are just experimenting with purées. Try not to freak out. You got this!

My daughter eats lamb chicken beef yuca stuff that we normally eat just I break it down I was nervous but my obg basically told me they spit out if they are not ready for the type of food you give my daughter was born middle of March she'll be 7 months the 16th but babies are resilient don't be scared to try new things.😃

It’s time ! Start giving him purees He ll discover

Started 31/2 4 months on food they say when they start being Intrested in food he’s almost 7 months now 19 pounds he sucks down a whole puree pouch with ease

We started our little one on purees at 5 months. She loves them!

Started letting my baby taste food at 5mo he just liked to taste stuff then eventually eat purees at 6mo. He just recently started to actually eat/swallow food though. He’s going to be 7mo in 3 days. The past 2 months he’s been more exploring different textures, tastes, and playing with the food. Be patient and don’t be discouraged if he doesn’t like certain foods. It takes them a few tries to like things!🤍
