Early baby led weaning…

My baby girl is 6 months and has taken to baby led weaning really well. She has tried everything she’s been given and is really interested in her food/spends lots of time chewing and tasting it but she doesn’t really swallow much at all. Does anyone else have this experience? I’m happy she’s enjoying it but feel a little worried about her not progressing towards consuming much. I know she doesn’t need it for nutrients yet, just don’t know when the skills start to develop. Would love to hear others experiences or tips and tricks! :)

My LO is 7 months, also BLW, he started properly swallowing stuff about 3weeks in, we are now 5/6 weeks in and it's pretty much all of it that he takes in! We do make sure to also offer one serving of fruit mashed up so he swallows something healthy. My top tip to see what baby is swallowing is offer orange slices, the segments pass pretty intact so you can see easily what they take in 😆 just make sure to peel off the segment skin as this is a choking hazard xxx

Food before one is just for fun! Thats something i constantly said to myself. They're learning to chew, textures and tastes and how to use their muscles x

Yeah, agreed, it can be tricky to see food wasted. We try and keep meals similar as a family and just a very small amount as our little one is only eating a couple of mouthfuls!
