Feeding on demand

Am I the only one feeding on demand? Seeing a lot of moms having a schedule but my baby literally constantly wants to eat 💀 I used to time it like every 2/3 hours but now it feels like every hour almost. He’s 8 weeks and I combination feed

Exact same, I can’t imagine life where he feeds every 3hrs (it would be amazing!)

I feed on demand no routine/schedule yet (formula fed) and mine feed every 3/4 hours

Same. Baby is 7 weeks old. It could be for these two reasons: 1. Baby is growing and he’s demanding more because you’ll need to increase your milk supply and your body needs these clues Or 2. Baby is just doing for conform. I’m in your shoes. I’m trying to contact a consultant to talk about it. Just read more about it. It could be for so many reason, it’s hot so they are thristy or feeling unwell etc. if your baby is acting normal you shouldn’t be worried

Same! Completely baby led for feeds and sleep right now, other than trying to wake her up a bit for some of our baby classes 😅 (breastfed)

Ive always fed on demand with all my children x

I breastfeed my twins on demand, I don’t understand how you can do a schedule, if your baby is hungry, they are hungry - we eat when hungry why shouldn’t they! My twins are almost 10 weeks and it changes up all the time how often they want to feed x

Feed on demand but often that does end up every 2 hours. Occasionally she wants it sooner and occasionally she’ll go a bit longer but i just go by what she wants

I feed on demand but he roughly wants a boob at the same time everyday so we work playtimes and walks around his feed times and can make plans knowing his rough feed times

Absolutely normal my little girl does the same and she’s 6 weeks. Shes breastfed and formula. Sometimes it’s every hour or 2. I’ve introduced a dummy as I’ve found sometimes she uses me as a dummy and isn’t actually hungry just for comfort. I’ve found this has really helped her settle more and not feed every hour.

EBF and I feed on demand. Schedules make no sense to me, if he’s hungry he’s hungry haha x

I think those posts could potentially be a bit misleading and they don’t mean they hold back if a baby is hungry. As lots of babies create their own schedule, a bit like a couple of ladies have said above. My baby chooses to feed every 2.5 hours mostly and so we feed him to that timing but it is still in demand ☺️

My baby is 8 weeks and she's been feeding alot more frequently this week I'm not sure why ! It's like almost every 2 hours day and night and not giving me a break. I follow her cues so it's on demand and usually close to 2 hour mark and sometimes even 1.5 hours..

My baby is 7weeks and I feed on demand. She just happens to eat every 3 hours. There are times she does 2hrs or 1hr but it's on average 3hrs every feed

I feed on demand, my baby is breastfed. Sometimes I will wake her to feed if I'm feeling really full. My son was bottle fed (breast and formula) and we fed him on demand. Do what feels right for you

Same - baby 6.5 weeks and combi feeding. Feeding little one when hungry❤️🥰🙏🏼

We are 7.5 weeks and still breastfeeding on demand with practically no schedule. It typically works out to be every 2/3 hours - more overnight and less first thing in the morning. The only thing I try to hit is 8 feeds or a minimum of 1 hour of feeding across 24 hours but that is what works for me with my flow and her feeding - might be different for you. Wonder weeks and your baby week by week are both great books for understanding growth/development against their age and I find it helpful to understand and rationalise when things feel or look different.
