Finger sucking

My 3 year old daughter has never taken a paci. Ever since birth she has sucked on the same two middle fingers on her right hand. Now it's to the point she has developed blisters. Anybody else's kids do that? Any advice on how to stop it, would be greatly appreciated.

My daughter does the same exact thing except on her left side. We have tried to get her to stop just by talking to her about it. Her pediatrician said if it’s her comfort and helps her sleep than to leave it and she will grow out of it. Her dentist has said similar in that not to shame her. We just talk to her about it and how it can mess up her teeth and is hurting her fingers because she has an indent/blister from where her teeth hit. I don’t really have any tips cuz we haven’t really tried to stop it, but wanted you to know you aren't alone. just talk to her about it. my daughter says she will stop at 4, but she said the same thing at 3 too

@Heather i hate taking away the one thing that comforts her. I get so much hate for it from family.

My brother sucked his two middle fingers until he was about 4 or 5. Eventually he just grew out of it. He’s now 30 years old, has a great smile (after braces, I will admit), is married to my beautiful sister-in-law and is just the most beautiful person inside and out. I don’t mean to dismiss your worries in any way, just want to give you comfort that everything will be okay.

Yes both my 3 year old son and 4 month old daughter do. I found a picture of myself when I was 3 and I even did it.

@Ansley I don’t think you need to. Tell your family that she will grow out of it. How many adults do you see sucking their fingers right ha
