Finger prick questions

So I had glucose test few weeks ago and was cleared but had scan today and babys stomachs measuring big so have to do week of finger prick testing as it common sign of GD. If I have a meal does that mean I can't eat or snack for 2 hours after till I test levels? I prefer to have one big meal rather than 3 meals so how would I work that for testing or should I just try have few small meals for sake of accurate testing? Is there anything I should know or keep in mind ? as I was only told how to use the machine and when to test was taken off guard so didn't think to ask questions at the time.

Here's my schedule Wake up around 6am, take my fasting reading and have a snack like almonds 2 hours later around 8am, have breakfast 2 hours later 10am, take post breakfast reading then have a snack 2 hours later at 12, have lunch 2pm - take post lunch reading, have a snack 4pm - snack 6pm-7pm, have dinner 8-9pm, post dinner reading Bed time I have another snack

Wow sorry to hear that sounds like you did not actually get proper instructions on how to deal with any of it! Shocking tbh! Each hospital likely to have a different approach (slightly). You have been given the little machine and asked to download a the app at least? You should have a little button on the app to request a callback from the team monitoring you- and they should take time explain properly what and why to follow a certain schedule and any dietary changes you can introduce or look out for. Myself I do check before breakfast, 1hr after breakfast (here already it differs what I'm recommended to do -as others mention 2hrs wait). Then I have a snack and do nothing, then lunch and again 1hr wait + test, snack do nothing, dinner +1hr wait and test.

@Camilla honestly I'd chalked it down to because it's not confirmed I have it yet why I wasn't told much and no they never mentioned an app just the equipment to take the test and a piece of paper to write the results down on for the week said to eat as normal she didn't even tell me what the normal range should be for the results I had to look it up 😅x

Oh my goodness... You probably will spend hours and days trying to get through on the phone but try please, and do complain while at it! oh this is not good enough from the team 'taking care' of your pregnancy for real! I can share all of my recommendations and limits given- but they might not be right for what clinicians had in mind when asking you to monitor. Makes me (party hormonally) furious to think you are left on your own with this!!

Camilla is totally right, unless you have the guidance from them specifically you won't know when to test!
