Winnie (Winnipeg) Hallie (Halifax) Victoria (like the island) Peggy (st Margaret’s Bay)
Nova works, some other thoughts I had: Hali Nouvelle Brier Anna Evangeline Luna Sydney Ainslie My husband grew up there I’ll ask him if he has any other ideas
My dad lives in BC and while I was visiting him (I live in UK) I found out I was pregnant. My son's middle name is Alexis after where my dad lives (Alexis Creek). 😊 I quite like Nova!
My cousin named her daughter Nova, I absolutely love it xx
Love Hallie / Halifax idea someone said above. Not a fan of Nova but Maple is cute
I also grew up in NS and live in the UK, hey sister! 😂♥️ My cousin is named Sydney, after the place in Cape Breton. I considered Mira after the place in CB (my fam is from there) Martinique (on the eastern shore) Anything sea themed, like Marina Hali -different spelling to what’s already been suggested, it means the sea and could be short for Halifax
Thanks everyone i really appreciate the suggestions! I did think of Hallie/Hali so might think about that name a bit more! 🇨🇦❤️
@Rhiannon oh hello!! 👋 i dont have any Canadian friends here so always love meeting one!
Nova is cute but the Brits will be saying it like “NOV-er”
@Allison never heard anyone here say the word nova like that. It’s No-va, surely?
Nova is cute. I don't think I would use Maple since it seems really out there, but maybe Mabel. Another idea is Aurora after the aurora borealis.
@Sarah it seems like really subtle r’s are added to the ends of words like that. Even I hear ‘Americ-er’
@Allison ohhh that’s really posh British accents, like bar-th instead of bath 🙂
Definitely use Maple as a middle name no matter what!

A friend named her girl Novalie, or Nova for short 😊
