Not recent because I had my son last summer but my experience was horrific at all stages (triage, delivery and Lady Mary Ward). Left in permanent and almost constant discomfort, prob for rest of life, and being treated for PTSD symptoms. Things may have improved since last year, but I've been waiting 9 months since I submitted a formal complaint, and every time I check in with PALS they say Obstetrics is so understaffed they can't process the complaint 🙃
I gave birth in May. Scans and stuff were always great, staff were lovely. Leading up to my birth I had some pretty long waits at clinic 23 which I found so hard; but staff were helpful and gave me a bed to wait in when they could (I had severe PGP). Rosie birth centre was amazing during first part of my labour, lovely staff again and good experience. I then needed to go up to have the epidural, I had to wait 3 hours for it which was tough. The night midwife looking after me was a bit meh, and I ended up needing a c section. Theatre staff all fab. I stayed in lady Mary ward for 4 days afterwards and every single member of staff was an angel who made that time as easy for me and baby as possible, im so grateful to them.
@Ari I think that the wait at clinic 23 is long as there is only one doctor who goes around the whole of the Rosie units xx
@Amie oh wow! I'm due 15th January (but potentially earlier as wanting elective c-section) I agree with you, so far good experiences for me too xx
@Meriel I am so sorry to hear you had such a difficult experience & you have so much discomfort. I really hope you get the closure you need once they finally process the complaint. Sending hugs to you!
@Ari thank you so much for the detailed response Ari. This is very reassuring to hear (despite not everything being perfect - appreciate the honesty on negatives too!) Hope you and baby are doing wonderfully well.
I had a baby in January by emergency c section. All was fine and was happy with the care apart from Lady Mary ward which was understaffed and therefore not a very pleasant experience
@Becca of course ❤️ if you have any questions I can answer let me know x
I went in at 41+6 to be induced… on arrival they said because I was already 4cm dilated I had to wait to go over to delivery unit to have waters broken which could take a few days (!). Luckily my waters broke a couple of hours later naturally and I went to birthing centre and had a great experience…. Stayed in the amazing rooms down there for 24 hours and then discharged. Very grateful for a great experience (very different to my first which was horrible three years ago at the Rosie!)
I've had two births at the Rosie, one in 2022 and one Monday just gone and I can't praise them enough. Scans were great, any worries I had were checked, and both labours were really wonderful, even with some issues in the first one. I felt very safe there x
I gave birth last week! Lovely experience with the midwives, both birth centre and delivery Unit. HORRIBLE with the clinic 23, just a very long wait (3 hours stuck there) while I was in early labour and in pain.
I am due my first in December ( 9 weeks today 😱) and I have had such good things to say about them. When I call the clinic 23 with any problems they instantly tell me to come in and feel listened to xx
