Dizzy spells

I've had a couple dizzy spells today so called into a pharmacy to get my blood pressure checked out. It showed as 126/96 which they consider high due to the diastolic value being over 90. I understand this much from working in pharmacy myself. But I'm aware that high blood pressure is a symptom of preeclampsia, so I'm a little worried. Do I need to contact my midwife team??

Did they check it after you'd been resting for a bit? The midwife took my BP after I'd been running back from the loo and it was way higher than my daily readings for this reason. Either way, I'd contact someone to be safe, or monitor your BP frequently and see if it remains like that?

@Claudia yes I had been resting for around 10 minutes beforehand. I have ordered some urine testing sticks as my midwife appointments are 4-5 weeks apart at the moment. Just want to make sure the high blood pressure isn't being paired with proteins

@India Good plan. I would probably see a GP too if it were me, but then I am very cautious! xx

I would ring midwife team/triage and ask their opinion and they can test your urine for protein too. If it helps, mine was super high yesterday (154/96 or similar) and I went to triage and they gave me tablets to lower my blood pressure but said it wasn't pre-eclampsia so not always related đź‘Ť

Are you feeling anxious at the moment? Few days ago, I was feeling quite stressed and my diastolic reading was 92, urine sample was fine. I had a blood test to check for preeclampsia but it came back fine. Sometimes it can just be a random high reading but it is always worth getting it checked.

@Justine I didn't think I was stressed at the time, but really I've been thinking so much on how much needs to be done before baby arrives... I'm going to test my urine tomorrow, and if it's showing high protein, I will phone triage. If it's normal, this may just be a thing that passes so I'll be fine.
