Daycare Advice

Hi everyone! My son will be starting daycare full time within the next few weeks, and i’m very nervous and stressed. He is about to be 16 months and has never been alone with strangers before. As a single mom, it’s always been me and him, and he has only been alone with my sister or my parents. He’s very shy and goes silent and still when strangers are around. He also has a hard time with me leaving at any point, no matter where or who he’s with. I’ve chosen to put him in daycare not only so I can get a full time job, but also because I feel like it will be good for him to have socialization with other kids, and not just me all the time. Any advice you guys can give me to make the transition better?

Understand that it will take time for him to adjust to a new setting. And talk with the daycare to let them know that this is his first time

I started my baby at 14 months and she still cries at drop off after two months! It’s hard at first but you get used to letting go. They get to learn and play and seeing pics of them having fun makes you feel better :)

Sounds like you're doing it for the right reasons! Our first took about 2 months to get comfortable at his daycare part time. The school seemed to be helpful with the transition and using a comfort object. His class was small too so he had a little bit more attention.
