Following because I'm being induced there in 2 weeks.
@Lizzie what time did you have to arrive at the hospital on the day?
@Lizzie love this for you!! 💖 Thank you, I’m so worried it will take ages but trying to stay positive 🤞🏼 xx
@Lucy I was booked in for 8pm. So a long day of waiting around but went for a nice tea and a little walk before going in.
@Liv I know I had heard some long / bad stories but mine was really good! The midwives are amazing and made me feel right at home. My only advice is if you want a epidural, tell them early. I had asked for it but the dr had gone to surgery so they said it was gonna be another 4 hours and my little girl was not waiting hahahahah.
I had one in July. My 2nd baby. 1st induction. Was nervous as hell. They took me into a room with 3 beds. I arrived on the thursday at 12pm. The first day they put a pessary in on the thursday at about 3/4pm. It Came out on the friday. nothing happened apart from little contractions. So they Broke my waters on the friday night, put me on the drip and baby was born early saturday morning. If you can avoid the drip, id say to stay away. It makes things go soooo quick an the pain is unreal. Instead of it building up like it did with my first (i wasnt induced with my first). the pain goes 0- 1000 in the matter of seconds. (sorry to scare you) If you want to ask any questions please feel free to message me xxx
@Beth thank you! This is mainly what I’m worried about, the pessary not working as the idea of the drip really bothers me, did you have an epidural (or anything!) with the drip? I think I would just ask for an epi straight away 😩 xx
Honestly everyone responds different to an induction so it’s really hard to know how you’ll be! For example I had a failed induction! It just didn’t work for me I didn’t respond to the pessary. It was a medical induction 2 weeks early they weren’t happy with growth towards the end. So after 48 hours of no sleep in the hospital and no progression I had to have an emergency section! But the hospital were amazing I couldn’t fault them x
@Laura thank you! Yes sooo true, I’m such an anxious Annie so trying to mentally be ready for anything to happen 🤣 have heard nothing but praise for the midwives though which is so nice to hear! Xx
Did you want to message me Liv? I did the process at the end of August so fairly recently... Good and bad points x
@Liv no, i didnt have the epidural as my worst fear is that going wrong. I just did gas and air xxx
I had one last November it was supposed to stay in 24 hours baby had other ideas I got to the hospital at 9am and by 3pm I was in labour and sent to the labour ward - I was terrified to but I think everyone’s experience is different when it comes to induction mine was breeze xx
Hi, I was induced at Arrowe Park last Monday. I was booked in at 2pm and I’d definitely suggest trying to get an early morning slot if you can - I didn’t have the balloon put in until 10pm. I didn’t realise that you’re essentially entering a queue and even once the pessary/balloon has done its job then you’re having to wait for a midwife/room on the Labour Ward before they can progress things. I didn’t realise how much waiting around there would be but September/October are the busiest times for deliveries so hopefully will have quietened down a bit by the time you’re in. I opted for the balloon but didn’t realise that only a few staff were trained to put that in whereas any of the midwives could do the pessary so there was a lot of waiting for that to even go in. Take lots of stuff in with you like films, books and music and just try and relax and preserve your energy for later on!! Message me if you have any questions xx
I had an induction last year. I was booked in for 8pm and had a pessary in by 10:30pmish. Contractions came quick but wasn’t getting a break with them so asked them to check dilation and hadn’t dilated since being in so they offered to put me in the queue to get waters broken instead as I was 3cm so they could. I opted for that as pessary wasn’t doing enough for the pain I was in. We waited a day for a bed/midwife and eventually got waters broken at 8pm and was put on drip at the same time. I agree with what others have said and if you can avoid being the drip I would. In hindsight I wish I had asked for them to just break my waters before putting me on drip aswell. It was brutal & I had every pain med offered and after a failed epidural 🙃 baby was born at 11 the next day. Honestly it was brutal but it wasn't a negative experience. If you can let the drip be the last thing they do but the staff are amazing and I’ve had friends who have had very quick and simple inductions too ❤️

I had my little boy end of July with an induction because I had cholestasis so he came at 36 weeks. I was really nervous about induction as you hear a lot of negative experiences but I honestly had a pretty positive labour experience. My little boy wasn’t very well afterwards but that had nothing to do with the induction. I had to go in at 8am, had the pessary at 10am until 10am the next day. Was able to keep mobile and active. Moved to the delivery suite around 11amish. Waters broken about midday. I asked to have some time before I went on the hormone drop just to allow my body to do anything naturally, I did progress but to speed things up I went on the hormone drop and honestly it wasn’t as bad as some people say, I found it a gradual increase, this was my first baby though so had nothing to compare it to. Drip started about 4pm and I had my baby boy just after midnight the next morning! Message me if you want any more info. I just had gas and air from about 6pm maybe, amazing stuff
I had one last December, feel free to message if you want more information but it was so straight forward. Pessary went in about 9.30pm, had checks then checks again about 4am. Contractions were every couple of minutes by 9am, went to delivery ward, went from 4cm to baby delivered in 70 mins! Had pethidine and that was it Everything was perfect for us xxx
