I have a pack of pacifiers, but I've not used them for the same reason. Perhaps try weaning the baby off of pacifiers instead of doing it cold turkey? The baby will eventually learn other techniques to soothe. One of those techniques can be increasing your breast feeding (if you're formula or combo feeding).

So I have a current 19 month old (and expecting our second here shortly). But the dentist told me to just make sure babe is off the soother by 18 months and it should not have any significant impact on her teeth!

With my first born he used soothers from the day he was born. He was given them in the hospital by the nurses. Just find one that is good for your baby. The Philips Avent ones are not good for oral development. However the nuk brand is fantastic.
