Iv been told different than the above. Pre breakfast should be under 5.3 and 1 hour after every meal should be under 7.8. If you are testing just befor every meal too, that should also be under 5.3. I had to test before and after every meal for a week then reduced to just first thing in the morning then 1 hour after every meal so 4 x a day. What numbers are you getting? When are you testing?
Mine is 5.3 before a meal and 6.4 2 hours after a meal
@Jess after every meal it’s roughly anywhere from like 5.6-6.9 but on a morning I’ve not got lower than 5.3. So this morning it was 5.3😫😫😫
I’ve been told the same as Jess, 5.3 and 7.8. Sounds like your readings after food are good. You can’t do anything about your fasting numbers, you may need meds to control them but I wouldn’t worry. I’ve been on tablets and insulin since 25 weeks as mine wasn’t well controlled at all. My after meal reading were 10/11ish. It took some getting used to but it’s well controlled now.
Morning fasting is notoriously the most difficult to control for a lot of people because it’s what’s happening when you are asleep with your hormones. Iv heard you can try having high protein snack before bed but not sure how effective that is. Im the opposite - I get spiked by a lot of foods so have to be proper strict with my diet to stay within range but my fasting number is always around 4 🤷♀️
Agree with above I cannot control my fasting which is why I'm om metaformin with breakfast and dinner and insulin at night currently
I'm based in Scotland & I take my bloods 4 times a day. These should be as below; Morning (fasting) - 5.5 or under Before lunch & dinner - 6 or under 2hrs after dinner - 7 or under I'm now on metformin with my evening meal as I was getting slightly higher morning readings (only .1-.3 over, but apparently it's the hardest one to have under, not just for pregnant women). Hope that's helpful x
Have you got the app? It tells you targets on there but it's 5.2 or less when you wake up/fasting then 7.7 or less after meals etc No less than 4 as that could be a hypo (not enough and means youd need some glucose to not be dizzy/poorly)
