Bowel incontinence

Is anyone else having this issue? Literally no warning to go so if I’m not near a toilet I would 💩 myself 😫😩😭 I know I have a minor rectocele but there are people with bad ones that don’t have incontinence so I don’t get why I do?

I'm sorry, I have the opposite problem. I gave a slight rectocele and a bad cystocele, but I haven't experienced incontinence. Have you gone to the doctor yet? I know pelvic floor exercises have helped my prolapsed bladder (cystocele) good luck

Did you have a third or fourth degree tear? I think these are more likely to cause incontinence than a rectocele, I think rectocele tends to cause the opposite issue and make it difficult to 💩. Unfortunately these tears can be missed at the time of delivery, so it’s worth bringing it up to your doctor even if you don’t think you had a tear. Even without a tear the muscles can be weak around the whole pelvic area, physio can help. Don’t suffer in silence definitely see a doctor and don’t let them fob you off with ‘it’s normal after childbirth’. How far postpartum are you?

Hi, I’m sorry you’re going through this. I had bowel incontinence for the first couple of weeks pp and it was not something I really knew would happen or was prepared for. It was very distressing along with everything else going on when you have a tiny baby. You have my sympathy. I had forceps + 3rd degree tear so had a follow up with physio / gyne consultant and still having physio now at 7 months to help pelvic floor strength as it was non existent + prolapse symptoms. If you’re in the early days definitely raise with your midwife. I told every midwife who visited and did what I could to get my check up brought forward. Or visit your doctor and ask for women’s health physio referral as there are things you can do to help x
