“Uterine irritability”

Anyone been told they’ve had this? I’ve been up at maternity triage tonight being monitored for several hours as I’ve had cramping, reduced movement & baby girls heart rate has been high. 34+5 & the midwife made a comment about how I could be “starting to labour” because of the trace showing “uterine irritability” (not Braxton hicks) which panicked me (until the doctor confirmed I wasn’t in labour 😅😂). Was eventually discharged as things settled but I’ve got to go back tomorrow (well, today now) for further monitoring & an additional scan has been arranged. Just don’t feel like anything was properly explained & I’ll definitely ask questions when I go back now I’m less anxious/overwhelmed…but just wondered if anyone else has had anything similar?

I have an irritable uterous! Basically it's contractions that don't dialate you. With my second I had them from 32 weeks baby wasnt early really he came at 39+2 . Third baby i can't remember when they started but he was induced at 39+1 with GD and This baby i started with braxton hicks before 12 weeks and get a few contractions each day worse than bh but nothing like with my 2nd x

@Alana Thanks so much for replying, you’ve made me feel better ❤️ It’s such an uncomfortable feeling, how have you managed? Have/were you been checked out more frequently or did you/have you plodded on because of knowing what it is? x

@Megan they told me that it can just happen and doesn't always correlate to preterm labour, although it can do i think. I didn't even get it diagnosed these last 2 pregnancies because I know what it is ..its extremely annoying, though ! And with my second I wasn't actually sure I was in labour when the time came x 😅
