Weaning

My daughter is 7 months old. I am really struggling with weaning. She literally eats nothing but will take her milk. I make all kinds of food, I have pureed it up and given her things to hold she just plays with it or spits it out but does put things to her mouth. It’s frustrating because it’s just not happening but she’s advanced in other areas, she is crawling.

This is super normal! Keep offering her all sorts of foods and before you know it you’ll be spending £300 on berries every week 😊

To be honest I needed to hear that someone was going through the same… LB is 8 months next week and still doesn’t have set meals because he will give or take it. He threw 90% of his food on the floor yesterday. But other days he can do really well but it’s minimal consumption!

My LB is 7 months and won't touch food. Tried everything! He actually keeps his lips together so I can't get him to taste anything 🙈. Decided to give it a break, if he looks like he wants what I have then I'll cut it up appropriately for him but it ends up on the floor ... you're not alone!

Thank you girls. It’s tough I must say I’m finding this part the hardest. I think I need to stop comparing but some others her age have like a little lunch out with them their mums prepare like 2 meals or 3 and baby’s eating them. Maybe ours just aren’t there yet and they’ll surprise us at some point. I have decided that I’m going to just keep passing her bits at lunch and dinner, at first I wasn’t sure if it was timing with then her feeds but not I’m on top of that it’s still not working. Absolutely on board with you a lot ends up being played with or on the floor and it’s disheartening.

Completely understand. I was so excited to start and cook things for him because I'm such a foodie but I don't want to put him off by forcing him all the time. They say food is for fun before 1, it's just hard when you had an image in your head x

It is hard but they will get there! I found with my eldest as well for like the first 2 years their appetites were always soo up and down ..i would get soo worried and stressed but within the week he’d be back to eating again. It’s a bit like sleep ..it’s not consistent for a while! Sometirms iti looks like its getting better and sometimes worse. They all get there though ..we all eat in the end 😂

In the same boat! 😫 my child is gonna live on milk forever 😅 I’ve tried all kinds of weird and wonderful weaning recipes and she’s just so uninterested! She might stick it in her mouth once and then it’s on the floor!

Just keep trying, my lo was the same didn’t open her mouth didn’t take anything and we tried every day! Then a month later she suddenly showed interest and opens her mouth and eats lots more.

My LB is the same. Pouts his lips together so its impossible to get him to taste my well-prepared veggies. I ended up trying fruits instead. Now he loves melon and organix snacks (banana wands). Better than nothing, but its still a great struggle to have him eat veg in any form. Will be attending a weaning class tomorrow

I'm in the exact same position! Was so excited to try and she's just not interested....tried all sorts, purees, finger foods, sachets, different times of day etc! V comforting to know am not alone and we just have to be patient but I agree it's hard when other babies same age are having actual meals now! We'll get there. Feel free to message if you want to rant/chat!

Same same, she was eating almost anything at 6months but suddenly started rejecting everything except milk at 7months. She would stick out her tongue when I try to feed her so the food wouldn’t get in. Lol
