@Savannah thank god I make him pancakes or waffles most weekends! And I was worried if it was going to affect the taste! I never knew how much contains milk! Xx
Defo worth a little Google of things that are “accidentally vegan” like Oreos and Jammy Dodgers for treats as Savannah said. Nomo chocolate is great too for Christmas coming up if you still want to give it - they have advent calendars and selection boxes, little lollipops and small treats. And in most supermarkets :) Worth a wander through the Free From sections in your supermarkets and I did a few of them as their selections are different and good to familiarise yourself with what you’re looking for :) Violife “cheese” is meant to be the most pleasant (as advised by adults with cows milk intolerance that have had to switch), but my boy likes the Cathedral City stuff too - I think the most actually. There are fab little on the go yoghurt pouches - The Collective Suckies. Can be tricky to get hold of the dairy free ones though - mostly the really big supermarkets do them :) Randomly some gravy has milk in, so one to watch out for :) that caught me off guard ! Good luck ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@Katie I know going to be so random looking through things like no milk hahaha! Hopefully we will get the hang of it i saw cathedral city did a big range though!! Xx
@Laura ah it can be really overwhelming, but you sound like you’re taking it in your stride x There are some great accounts on Insta too, worth a look into :)
I’d recommend going with more natural whole foods and gear away from ultra processed things. If he has an intolerance to cows milk he is likely sensitive to other food too. I’m the same and as a result changed my diet completely (only diagnosed in my late teens). I’m quite a healthy eater now and finally am able to tolerate organic Greek yogurt.
@Denise well he only has like fruit or veg for snacks but the only other things he came up as intolerant too was egg white and pea but not a high score! But you’re right it has opened my eyes to what’s in what for sure xx
@Laura That makes sense! Fruit and veg are great for snacks, and it’s good to hear that the other intolerances like egg white and pea weren’t high. It’s amazing how these things can really make us look at ingredients more closely, right? Even when it’s a low score, it’s still helpful info to have. Glad you’re finding some clarity with it all! xx
Alpro does lots of good dairy products including yogurt. Baby bell also does a dairy free cheese. I found when I cut dairy out that replacing dairy free milk and butter while I cooked didn’t affect the taste of the meal. The cheese however is just never the same. Unfortunately it’s just a lot of checking labels but you sound like you’re on the right track! Oreos don’t have any dairy which was good for the occasional treat for my daughter
