You won’t be able to claim back unfortunately and it’s worth noting there is a cut off period for the tax free so i’m not sure if you’d be eligible until January now potentially December. When we applied we didn’t get instant approval either, it was definitely within the week but i want to say around 2-3 days. X
I believe you both need to meet the criteria not one person. Same with free hours. X
@Kasia I’ve read through all the information a couple of times and it doesn’t specify anywhere that the other parent needs to be eligible, only that their income needs to be within the required threshold. My income meets the requirements but I’m here on a visa.
I think it can take up to 7-10 working days for them approve it! You can pay money into the account straight away but the top up won’t go in until they approve it. You both have to earn a certain amount every 3 months to be eligible but only one parent has to apply but your details still go onto the application like your national insurance number and income/benefits details etc meaning if any part of your details are ineligible and you are living together and/or married then I think that means he can’t claim it?
@Steph this was also my understanding. That if you’re living at the same address or married if some details aren’t eligible then you wouldn’t be able to claim unfortunately x
Thanks all! Looks like we’ll miss out on getting the top-up for November. I meet all the requirements, I’m just not eligible for public funds because of my visa. From reading all the info, only one of us needs to be eligible for public funds as long as we both meet the rest of the requirements.
Yes you are correct about NRPF. My husband isn’t eligible because of it, but I am as a British citizen. He met all other requirements and it went through straight away.
You can't claim back no, it works like a bank account so you put in a certain amount and the government tops it up, you then pay the nursery directly from that account.
