Introducing solid food (not purées)

Hey mamas, my LO is 7 months and I was wondering when and how to offer actual food. I tried giving her scrambled eggs in her oatmeal a few days ago and she was gagging I thought she was choking 😭 but then people try BLW and their baby eats real food from the get go. How can I get her to have foods that she has to chew?

babies will gag with every new texture, I suggest the solid starts app, you don’t even have to pay for the subscription, just search up a food and see how to serve it

I second recommending solid starts. It can take a huge number of tries before a baby likes something, so you've just gotta keep trying. I offer a food wedge, using solid starts as a guide, and do a puree, which she's more used to. She used to gag and make a face at toast, but I think she's growing to like it

Also recommend solid starts (I also just use what’s available for free and find it super helpful). Also ditto to the gagging with new textures. Totally normal!

I started with steamed/soft items that are served in strips easy for baby to pickup. Steamed carrots Sweet potatoes Mashed potatoes Mashed berries
