Frustrated mom šŸ¤•šŸ˜¢

Iā€™m stressed frustrated upset and every emotion that I could add. My child is on the skinny side but sheā€™s very active too and has no medical issues. She refuses to eat fruits and veggies, every time I offer it she refuses to even touch. I am having a hard time especially since I have no support system and my husband works till late . Everyone I see says omg your child is so skinny/tiny to be a 2 year old. Itā€™s very upsetting itā€™s offending just like saying omg your child is so fat in my opinion. But Am I doing something wrong? She only wants to eat anything to do with rice, lentil curry, potatoes, fish curry, yogurt, white bread, chicken curry, pasta, only fruit banana and raisins. Itā€™s all very carbs based mostly. She doesnā€™t want to try other food like eggs, veggies or anything.

My 5 year old is like this. Ignoring the length, he fits in 3-4 age clothing. Like yours, hates fruit and veggies (so annoying!) but loves curry, meat, rice.... He's fine. But yes, i get it, its annoying when people comment on how small he is

My boy is a lanky one. Heā€™s been skinny since birth. And he eats a lot. Always been a good eater. And still is skinny. Our pediatrician ensured me several times that he is totally fine and healthy. He is 3 but some pants that are 2T still fit him well cause heā€™s so lanky.

Honestly they'll be fine. If they're eating you're good :) My eldest niece has always been thin and she is a very intelligent 8 year old now.

If thatā€™s what she eats then thatā€™s brilliant. In terms of carbs and protein she is doing amazing and thatā€™s most important. Do you give a daily multivitamin? I make a tomato & veggie pasta sauce for my LO, blend it all together and add cream and thatā€™s a great way to get veggies into her. But sounds like your LO is eating a decent variety of food much better than a lot of others! Just keep offering and one day hopefully she will accept something new. For now I really wouldnā€™t stress too much. Youā€™re doing great x

Try Hiding her veggies in the foods she eats. Like for example if she eats pasta make a zucchini kale broccoli sauce. Just steam and blend with water. But also donā€™t worry about those annoying people. They can kick rocks with no shoes on.

My first born is an amazing eater, will eat anything and everything and in large amounts. My second, is a whole other story and sounds very similar to yours. All you can do is try. Trust me, it stresses me the hell out sometimes, but I did absolutely nothing different between her and my son, and as I said, they are complete opposites. Agree with some above, try and hide the veggies. Iā€™ll purĆ©e veggies and mix them in with a pasta sauce. Or Iā€™ll shred up chicken very finely and throw that in pasta as well for protein.

Make smoothies with veggies! I have been making bread with carrots and broccoli in it for my boy he loves it as well as I add banana and spinach and protein to make his pancakes in the morning

My daughter HATES eggs and veggies. Buuut found a way to trick her into eating eggs by making French toast! You could try it. Also, if your kid likes chicken nuggets like mine does thereā€™s a brand you can get for babies thatā€™s made with real meat and cauliflower itā€™s got a 90/100 on the Yuka app no additives no sodium but lots of vitamins and proteins!!

When my daughter stopped eating fruits, I started making her smoothie. Coconut water, banana and I add whatever berries I have, sometimes strawberries or blueberries and she LOVES it and keeps asking for it every day. I bought her a nice smoothie cup with a silicone tip straw to use and she loves it. I also offer her dates/dates balls. I make it at home, saute dates on pan with any oil you have, mush them, add toasted sesame, walnuts and peacons pieces, mix very well, make little balls and roll in coconut flakes or any nuts powder that I blend and roll the balls in and then just cut up the date ball into small pieces and she loves them. I also found it very helpful when I sit and eat with her, and on the weekends when dad's home, I ask him to do the same, she sees us eating broccoli and she starts to eat it aswell. I steam it then add olive oil, salt and break the broccoli into smaller pieces.

Youā€™re not doing anything wrong. My kid eats everything. But heā€™s still always been 20-30th percentile. Born petite, still a petite 5yr old. It looks like I donā€™t feed him until you see him eating- heā€™s very very active. Has a 14foot trampoline that he spends like an hour on every day. You can sneak more veggies into his pastas and the curries you make. I like putting beans and pumpkin into my Red Thai curries, and peas corn cauliflower broccoli etc into pastas

Today I made her chicken nuggets at home and she also loved them. Minced chicken breast at home, added blended onions and garlic, salt pepper, a bit of flour and olive oil. Using gloves just shaped them and put them in the oven for about a 20-25 mins and flipped them near the end. I make her buckwheat and add butter on top, it's really nice and she also loves it. I also offer her avocados in the morning with eggs, when she refuses eggs, I would give her the avocado first, she eats it first then I offer the egg and she starts to eat it. I also found what helps alot is I read to her during the meals, play with some toys, keep her a bit distracted and that helps. It doesn't happen overnight, just keep trying few things and honestly they go through phases, my daughter stopped eating eggs for months and today she started eating it for breakfast. Best of luck and don't worry too much about it ā¤ļø

Fruit and veggie and nut smoothies, and freezing them into ice pops has helped us.

You might be able to ā€œhideā€ purĆ©ed veggies in pasta sauces and curries just for your own piece of mind but if sheā€™s eating thatā€™s good, just keep offering new foods but donā€™t pressure her, and let her see you enjoying them. Different kids are naturally different heights and builds just like adults, a lot of it is genetic but also just because sheā€™s small now doesnā€™t mean she wonā€™t go through growth spurts and change as she gets older. Also try to remember that most people donā€™t mean any harm with their comments, they are just making an observation, probably wondering if they are over feeding their own kid. You can just shrug and say she eats well enough or you can just reply with a straight faced ā€œwe donā€™t comment on other peopleā€™s bodiesā€ if you want to shame them into silence

My mom made the comment about my then 9M old that ā€œsheā€™s finally starting to put on some weightā€ when sheā€™s been exactly 50% almost the whole time. I was offended. Sheā€™s not even 12m and sheā€™s very picky with her food veggies I have to blend and hide in sauce or she wonā€™t eat them at all so that would be my only suggestion to try maybe.

If on the skinny side, add extra fat to her portion and make sure she takes a multivit. Annabel karmel books are packed with ideas to include extra veggies in meals, e.g. grated carrot.

Are they Asian? Asians are evolved to handle all of those foods which is starch They can process it much faster than for example a north American or white. Otherwise if she isn't she is going to be diabetic real soon.

Hide them in food. If she can still tell, oh well eat it anyway.
