I don’t see anything wrong with that! As long as they’re fed then that’s what matters. If i’ve ran out of food ideas, i might mix a pouch with mash, rice or pasta. My girl loves a spag bol pouch mixed in with spaghetti. We just have little portions frozen ready to use when needed. I definitely don’t rely on them anymore but they’re there if I need.
I usually offer a portion of a meal I know she likes if she doesn’t like whatever I’ve served (after she’s tried it, I mean). When I cook meals I know she likes I usually double the recipe and freeze portions of it
I try make fresh but I don't do this everyday. I've been buying hipp dinners and they good like lasagne and spaghetti bol and is good portion for our hungry boy. I tend to make same stuff he likes xx
Bit of a mixture. I’m trying to move away from pouches because I don’t feel like they’re very fresh but the food we eat isn’t always suitable for a baby (spicy or salty!) so we do still give them every now and then. Also easier if you’re out and about x
We are a mix of things I make (sometimes that just an omelette, other times it's leftpver spaghetti bolognese etc etc) I try some premade baby meals but he's pretty much turned his nose up at most things which is nice he like his mamas cooking but also annoying if I'm late from work and need something quick to give him 😅 His breakfast is always ready brek mixed with some kind of fruit pouch though
Whenever I make anything I make enough for 6, so theres 2 portions for my partner and I and then 6 mini portions for my son. I freeze them all into silicone freezer trays. Pop them out the morning I need it & then add veggies or toast or something to the side xx
I used to do exactly the same as you, especially in the early days and especially with my little one being dairy free it’s soo hard at times! However our dietician advised if he doesn’t eat home cooked foods, not to offer a pouch as an alternative straight away, she said to give it an hour or so and offer him somethitn different some sort of snack etc, as otherwise he will associate not eating home cooked foods with getting the good stuff in a pouch (even tho they are technically full of healthy stuff I still don’t see how it can be as good for them as home cooked) which makes sense I suppose! So we’ve started doing that for the past two weeks x
I’ve literally just reintroduced food that I prepared and froze for my son in the last two days. When we first started weaning it was always hit and miss if he’d eat it and the pouches just became easier. He’s had an issue with texture for an extended period and until a couple of days ago all 3 meals were from a pouch. But I started mixing in some of the pouch with the ice cubes of food I prepared and to my surprise, he ate it. I’m hoping he’s fully in this new phase and I can save a bit of money on the pouches. That being said, if he hasn’t eaten much in a day and the only thing he’ll go for is a pouch, I’ll give him that. I just want him to be fed at the end of the day, however that is achieved. Keep offering what you’re having and eventually I’m sure they’ll get there. Leaving it slightly longer between meals is something that seemed to help with my son.
That's good, you are offering the food keep doing that and if they don't eat giving the pouch food is also good because then they aren't going hungry
Combination of pouches and what we are eating tailored to his needs
My boy gets given whatever we’re eating, he still throws away more than he eats most of time though🤷🏻♀️
