Hungry baby?

Hey guys my baby’s 5 weeks old yesterday and he was born 8lb 3oz so wasn’t a small baby but not particularly big either. I don’t know his weight now but he looks a lot bigger and is easily in 0-3 months with his feet touching the ends so I assume he’s around 10lbs but he eats 6oz!! I thought this was normal until I hear people’s babies eating around 3oz?? And other people’s babies eating 6oz when they’re around 10 weeks old? Is this too much? He seems hungry for it and he uses a dummy too so isn’t eating out of boredom! I’ve heard you can’t overfeed a baby but is this a concern or do I just have a big baby!!

6oz of breastmilk or formula?

@Megan sorry I forgot to say! Cow and gate formula xx

@Megan he spits up every now and again but isn’t usually sick but will eat 6oz of formula and is 5 weeks old, he’s quite big but isn’t overly chunky with rolls but Defos not small or skinny xx

If he’s hungry give him it, no point reducing the amount of milk he’s taking if he wants it you’ll only end up with baby crying and you getting frustrated. When my baby came home from the nicu at 5 weeks old (was born 8 weeks early) I noticed he was still hungry after his little feed so I upped it to the next ounce and my HV told me not to overfeed him but if he’s hungry I’m gonna let him eat. Just like ourselves, if we’re hungry we’re gonna eat

My baby came out 7lbs 5oz. He is 4 weeks old and he is eating 5 oz. A baby will let you know when he’s not hungry anymore. They won’t be interested in the bottle/ boob anymore. They will push out the bottle/ boob with their tongue. I had doubts when feeding my baby. Nurses were telling me that my baby should only eat an ounce more each week. But all babies are different & every parent has their own experiences. Keep feeding your baby however much he wants.

Every baby is different, my LB always had more milk than my friends little ones but he’s a happy & healthy (& normal sized) baby now. Don’t stress, you do whats right for you and baby. Babygrows always seem to be 1 size up from their age. Could try more smaller feeds throughout the day/night so he isn’t getting too hungry & needing more. Even if he doesn’t seem bothered you can offer & see if that works. I stuck to a bit of a routine with feeds & seemed to always have a happy baby :) x

My lo was on 6oz formula just after 6 weeks and it a little chunk! She was 7lbs 9oz when born and about 12lbs at 8 weeks, as long as they’re not being sick and overly spitting up then feed baby! X

My baby was 9.1 lbs born and eats 5oz easy and he is only 2.5weeks , feed the baby , I was under feeding at first only giving him 2oz cause of what I was being told but then he would be very fussy and not settled so I started to feed him until he was full or almost floppy ! Hope this helps🫶🏾 you got this!

@Nalisa THIS my boy was feeding maybe 3oz until 3 weeks and was feeding practically every hour!! I do just think he’s going to be a big boy but it’s reassuring to hear of another baby eating a lot because he’s not spitting it back up or anything but I see so many people’s babies his age still on smaller amounts 🫣🩵

@Nalisa now he’s 5 weeks and on 6oz (increased 1oz at a time) and will finish the full bottle easy!!
