WA state leave

Hi all! I moved here about 1.5 years ago and am not familiar with how the state leave works. From what I can tell I could take up to 16 weeks off total? Thanks in advance for any information! Just found out my company doesn't qualify for FMLA so the states leave is what I have to work with.

State leave is 12 weeks to recover from birth and the 4-6 weeks for bonding. Your doctor should be able to fill out all the paperwork and can fax it to the state to get approved.

You’ll need to make an account to be able to get paid weekly

You get 4-6 weeks of medical recovery and 12 weeks of bonding time. You do need to be eligible for it, meaning you have to work for 840 hrs (or about that, I can’t remember exactly) in The state of WA the year prior to wanting to take it. Also you have to be paying into it from your pay stub. I’m in Hr and a lot of people don’t realize if your not paying the PFML taxes with your pay stub there’s a good chance you won’t get approved. Feel free to send me a message if you would like. 🙂

You can get all 12 weeks. Let your employer know when weeks you want to take off. I got all 12 weeks. You Will get 16 weeks if you have any compli6.

You will have to apply for medical leave first and then family bonding leave. I was approved for 8 weeks of medical and then 12 weeks of bonding. There were no complications from my labor, that is just the amount they approved for me. There was a set amount of hours total for the whole year I could use and then a set amount per week I could claim.
