We looked at both - things to consider Nursery - with children their own age all day and learn how to interact and be sociable. Gets them used to busy settings ahead of going to school and builds independence. Good range of activities and educational based learning but limited on "outside world" exploration. Can be more expensive than a childminder. Childminder - home from home setting which could be good for some kids who struggle being away from home. Good opportunities for outside world adventure as they have day trips and activities. Can often be with children of other age ranges in a quieter setting. You'll have to arrange additional childcare if the childminder takes annual leave, or plan to use your own annual leave around theirs. Often cheaper than nurseries. We ultimately decided on nursery and she's thriving. Look at both and see what works for you x

@Joanne awwwnnn thank you Joanne for this….. very explicit I’m Joanne too 😀😀😀

I'm currently weighing up options too! I think my little one will go to Nursery at 2/2 and a half but I'm thinking he'd benefit from a more social setting from Jan - so I'm looking at childminders! X

I think it highly depends what nursery and what childminders. Ours was at childminders from 8months old and she liked it. But at nursery now that we got her into after being on waitlist for 1,5 years she absolutely loves it. I don’t know what it is but it’s a great nursery - she’s with kids same age rather than older than her. Xx

Defo nursery (a really good/ ofstead rated one). My reasons would mostly be for safety/ child protection. For a childminder you have no idea who could be coming into their home while your child is there which has always freaked me out. But also I want them to mix with lots more children they’re own age and adults so prefer nursery. But I doubt you’d get them into a good nursery for Jan. I was on the waitlist for our from pregnancy so a total of nearly 2 year waitlist before they actually started. It’s ofstead rated outstanding x

I've done a bit of both - childminder at the start and now in nursery. The maim reason my girl isn't with a childminder long term is that I wasn't sure on all the potential opportunities for days off, if the childminder takes holiday or if her / her kids are sick and she can't open, leaving you stranded

Nursery - it’s a more secure, safe environment than someone’s house (no matter how diligent they are), more staff etc, more children to interact with, and more equipment/ facilities

Child minders 1000000%. I don’t put my child into childcare yet, I don’t plan to until pre school but if I had to I would choose a child minder. Soo much better for communication, less bugs caught (from experience with kids in the family) and it’s more of a 1-1 care. Home from home setting is great and some also take your child on some brilliant days out. Obviously the only thing is child minders take leave etc. but a lot I know, then have other child minders that can have your child during that time (apart from short notice leave like sick leave etc.)

We put our little girl in nursery and she hated it. She is doing much better at a childminders x

@Hayley okay nice For sure I intend putting my LG in nursery in September ,. She’ll be 2 years but I want her to socialize more before then

@Kasia nice idea xxx I think I need to apply to the school for September but in the meantime look for something for her

@Abigail oh my this took a lot of them. My intention is a private nursery by January then a school’s nursery by September. I’ll just give it a try asap

@Luce okay Yeah I get Anyways we’ll always be around. Just want her to mix up with other kids

@Milly Fab xxx thanks

@Cerys good point still Thank you xxx

@Alice awwwnnn I’ll just give it a try

In my opinion and because of past experience with my son who is now 12 and had the best experience with childminder we chose a childminder again, my reasons are because with childminders you choose who is actually looking after your LO and it’s more personal, they get to go out to places rather than in the same environment all day, it’s cheaper too, they get to mix with different ages and our childminder goes out with other childminders so all the kids get together, we get pictures all day and updates it’s really worked well for us, we’ve been really lucky to find two of the best to look after our boys x

@Helen awwwnnnnn 😍😍😍sounds really good ❤️❤️
