Feeding Baby

My doctor has just informed me at 4 month check up, that I can begin to feed my baby purée foods. I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around that, as all baby foods say 6 months. So I’m trying to wrap my head around that. What have you all done if you have given foods?

I dont give food before 6 months. Babys digestive system is still too immature and it will cause gut problems and constipation. I dont know why some doctors rush to start solids. Honestly, food before the age of 1 is just for tasting, exploring and allergies. Kids are supposed to rely on milk for the first year and youre supposed to only give a couple spoons of food when they start at 6 months and slowly increase the quantity. Thats just my opinion on the matter.

My doctor told me the same thing. Baby cereal at 4 months and then at 5 months start introducing allergens in the cereal. The allergens is a new thing as more and more research shows that the earlier they’re introduced, the less likely they develop a food allergy. I have a 2 year old and don’t remember if he told me to start cereal at 4 months with him, but regardless I waited until 6 months and went straight to BLW

Yeah, he was saying like puree fruit or veggies. My baby is also measuring on the smaller side. Not gaining weight as quickly or as much as he “should”. He’s below normal, but above case of concern is what he told me. Like on the scale he showed me he’s between the 2 lines. So he said this will also help with that. Ahh it’s so confusing. My first baby I had her 14 years ago. And it was sticky 6 months start. Now it’s all so contradictory

Start with the baby cereal (I did rice first) and then you can begin with puréed veggies (carrot, squash, peas, sweet potato etc). It’s so easy to make your own baby food by cooking and pureeing the vegetables. If you make extras, you can always put portions into an ice cub tray and freeze them.
