40 days Islamic ruling postpartum

Hi guys I’ve been told my a few fam members that theirs a 40 day ruling in which the girl rests for 40 days which is understandable. But then some say after 40 days the woman should get back to her normal activates including praying and should go to a nice place like someone house eg family or parents. However I’ve checked online and it shows me Islam does not say much about this esp about the fact of going to someone house or specific place. Can anyone tell me if this is Islamic then where’s the sources or if this is just a cultural thing.

Hi, there is no specific ruling regarding going to someone’s house. You just take a ghusal and start praying if you are still bleeding after the 40 days it’s considered “abnormal bleeding” and you should start praying just need to do wudhu before each prayer. This is more culture, especially Pakistani/Indian where they say you take a bath, have something sweet, pray 2 nafals and yes go back to either your own house if you were at your mums or if you are at your own house then to have a nice dinner. I took a ghusal had something sweet and prayed and just chilled at my own house 😂

@Sumbal exactly tnsgs makes much sense I just knew most of it is cultural but our society makes us feel like the Quran says this 40 days ruling thing. Yeah tbh I had a c section so atm I don’t even feel comfy going to my Paretns house yet but thanks

Wishing you a speedy recovery! ❤️‍🩹
