Cows milk transition

LB turned 1 on Sunday, I'm worried about the cows milk transition as he's really not a great eater. He's currently not been well and not really having much milk never mind food but before he was poorly he was a rubbish eater as well. Everything I've read talks about switching when they are getting everything they need from food but he mainly eats cucumber and some fruit, yogurt and a few bits of something but throws the rest on the floor or feeds it to the dog 🤦‍♀️ I'm worried about making the switch and him losing weight not getting what he needs from food. Before being poorly he would have 3 8oz bottles a day, I offer 3 meals and 1 snack as he's never interested in another snack in the day.

To be honest I know a lot of mums thats still do one or two formula bottles for another couple of months, do whatever feels right it wont do any harm for a little while longer

I've been feeling worried about that too and I'm having exactly the same issue that my son has been poorly so just really hasn't been wanting to eat food. I think I'm going to just keep him on formula for a bit until he starts to eat better so at least I know he's getting everything he needs from milk. Then I'll slowly start introducing milk x

They can stay on formula til 18 months. My little girl is 1 in a few weeks and was allergic to cows protein but has since grown out of the allergy. When we saw her paediatrician, she said to start doing the milk ladder and keep on normal formula until I’m able to do the switch without it upsetting her stomach as she obviously hasn’t had any dairy before. My little girl is also not the best eater since being poorly so until she’s eating better I’m going to keep her on formula. I do also have some vitamin drops to give her when she goes onto cows milk but as the paediatrician said it’s fine to be on formula til 18 months, I don’t feel too worried to get her onto cows milk by 1 x
