Feeding

Hey mama’s 👋🏻 my LO will be 6 months next week and I’ve slowly been introducing purées to him but wanted to ask how do you guys do it? I’ve tried homemade and pouches but he just spits it out. Don’t know what else to do. He tries to eat my food so I know he’s hungry. Thanks 😊

My mom gave me a tip to put the spoon towards the side of baby’s cheek so they can learn how to move it and feel it around and my baby spits it out too, if it’s too much or he’s experimenting. But I’ve done zucchini and carrots, peeled & boiled them, added some breast milk & put it in my blender 👍

I heard it can take 10 tries of something for your baby to like it, even if it’s just one mouthful they may just not like the texture to start with so maybe thin it down with their milk or some boiled water ❤️

@Olivia so instead of adding breast milk I can sub with water? I hate wasting my milk is also why

So we met with our OT for a feeding assessment and we were told that in the beginning it’s really about exploring and exposure to new textures. Give it time ☺️ Our daughter spit everything out the first time but she is now feeding herself as we’re going with the baby lead weaning approach! We use nun numnum num GOOtensils.

@Taylor I was told you can add whole milk to your homemade purées or water. If you use jars of baby food the ingredients list water.

Does baby reach for the spoon at all? Mine loves feeding himself after I put the purees on it (or just chewing the spoon idk). But keep introducing baby to new foods and soon you will be able to introduce new textures as well

We have no food allergy concerns so my 6 month old just gets tiny pieces of whatever we or our toddler is eating. I just squish things between my fingers (if necessary, like with peas) and pop them in his mouth.
