Weaning and sterilising

Hi, I am weaning my baby tomorrow at 5 and a half weeks. We spoke with a health visitor and pediatrician and because my baby is struggling with reflux they suggested weaning. Just a quick question, do plates need sterilising? I understand about cups and spoons but do plates? Are they all suitable for microwave steam sterilising? I feel kinda ready but nervous too. Anyone else weaned baby at 5 and a half months?

Hey I’m no expert but I started weening at 4 months, I would say only sterilise what bubba puts in mouth. They say you can stop sterilising at 6months - you’re almost there!! Good luck x

You don’t need to sterilise any of it, you only sterilise items that contain formula for 12 months.

I was told I don't need to sterilise plates, cups and utensils. But I didn't start weaning until mine was just after 6 months because she couldn't sit with minimal assistance and I didn't want to risk chocking
