Tbh there is no hard and fast rule that you can't start with porridge, you should start with veggies if you're weaning before 6months. Especially as they can't have cows milk till after 6 months so you'll be mixing porridge with water, breastmilk or formula. The early taste part is very much getting their system ready to eat full meals. But, people may opt to give porridge as an alternative to baby rice because porridge has mire nutritional value
Can I mix veggie with cows milk from 6 months or keep to formula?
You don't need to mix veg with any fluid, the veg has its own water in it which makes it moist enough.
I'll do babies led weaning and start straight with veggies she can grab and feed herself 🙂
@Santa same here! We used the How to Wean Your Baby book which has a meal plan for the first 30 days, some simple recipes and info on how to introduce allergens etc. We started with broccoli with my eldest.
@Santa veg pieces not puree?
I started with carrot puree for three days, now I’m giving my daughter apple puree again for couple days and next will either be broccoli or banana but puree again with some water on the side ☺️ I’m scared to introduce actually solid finger food 🙈 she’s just turned 5 months old but I can tell how much she would like to taste our food. She is staring at us like the dogs 😅😅
@Ibby if you're weaning at 6months you can do pieces and textures. Before 6 months is purees
Straight to veg at 4.5 months x
Straight to veg at around 6 months. Don't get me wrong, porridge will be a part of their diet and they will have for breakfasts but when you first start to wean, food is purely for fun and imo porridge is boring af 😂 think it probs depends on whether you blw or puree though x
